Scott started his musical journey playing piano at the age of five, dabbling with the trombone at age 10. He then began studying drums, his first passion, eventually studying under the guidance of renowned teacher/author Gary Chaffee (whose other students include Steve Smith & Vinnie Colaiuta, among many others) and Bob Moses (credits include Gary Burton & Pat Metheny).  After obtaining his degree from Berklee College of Music (Dean's List), he taught and performed regularly for five years in the Boston area. 

Since moving to the Capital Region in 1994, Scott has taught privately and played in many popular area bands including an 11 year stint with 'Hair of the Dog'.  He now performs with fellow ex-'Dog' members in 'Get Up Jack', the jazz group 'The Standard Clams' (voted "Best Jazz Band" Metroland 2012 readers poll), noted local jam band 'Raisinhead' as well as with many others.

He also performs, produces, arranges and engineers regularly in Blue Sky Recording Studio. He and his wife Heather opened Blue Sky Music/Recording Studios in 1996.
