Rachel

Voice

Rachel holds a Master of Music in Voice Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Franklin & Marshall College. Her multifaceted interests have led to her education and experience in voice performance, pedagogy, and music direction. As a former research assistant of the Janette E. Ogg Voice Research Center, she conducted extensive study of the human voice including the co-authoring of a publication entitled “Volumetric vocal tract segmentation using a deep transfer learning 3D U-NET model”. She also has extensive music direction experience in both musical theater and operatic performance. Rachel is currently a first soprano with the Albany Pro Musica choir as well as a hired ringer for several choirs in the area.

As a teacher, Rachel’s hope is that her students will begin to view themselves as competent artists and musicians that are capable of using their music as an expressive outlet. Art is both an act of replication and transformation. It is the way that we as humans grapple with our condition. Rachel’s belief is that every student of hers is capable of contributing to that narrative. She strives to foster this confidence in her students by establishing her studio as a safe space for growth and experimentation with all genres of music. Lack of musical fluency or prior inability to access proper music education should never be a barrier to beginning voice lessons. However far your music goals extend, every lesson learned is an enriching experience just the same.
