Piano, Songwriting

Ellen is a pianist and singer-songwriter with nearly a decade of experience teaching students of all ages and levels. She earned her Bachelor of Music Education with a concentration in piano from James Madison University in 2018 before moving to northern Germany, where she spent six years exploring a wide range of musical paths including classroom music teaching, private piano and voice instruction, accompanying, and performing as a singer-songwriter. Now located in the Capital Region, Ellen is excited to continue sharing her music and guiding students on their own musical journeys.

Ellen’s favorite part of teaching is her students. She approaches teaching with the understanding that every student develops a unique relationship to the piano. Whether through classical repertoire or four chord pop songs, she tailors lessons to individual interests and strengths, emphasizing creativity, solid technique, and above all, the joy of playing.
