Summer Rock Band Music Camp
Summer Rock Band Camp
Join us at Blue Sky Music Studio for this year's Make the Band camp - a 2 week rock band summer music camp.
Over a 2 week period, participants will be placed in bands, with the focus being on playing with other musicians. Bands will work on both cover songs AND original music written by the students in the camp. The last 2 days will be a recording session in our state of the art recording studio, where the ensembles will make a professional recording for each student to take home! Students will be receiving a total of 30 hours in this camp. Scroll down for more info!
**Due to our busy summer schedules we will not be holding the camp this year. Please feel free to request to be on our email list to be notified about dates for next years 2024 camp!**

Learn From the Pros
Our music camp instructors are experienced, professional gigging musicians who have played nationally and internationally, and in many live situations ranging from solo restaurant gigs to music festivals in front of thousands of people. They've played in bands with musicians of varying talent and personalities, and freelanced with musicians they'd previously never met. Playing music and having fun with others requires specific skills and experience that our instructors will pass on to the students.
Meet Other Players
Whether your child has experience playing with others, or this will be the first time playing in a group, participants often end up continuing their musical relationships well beyond the band camp. Networking is what the music biz is all about, and it starts right here! We've seen some of the bands continue on throughout the school year, we've seen drummers and bass players hook up to form bands of their own, and we've seen kids pull others into their existing bands.
FAQs:
Q: What ages typically attend?
A: We accept students as young as 9 and as old as 17.
Q: Do participants need to know how to play an instrument?
A: Yes. While they don't have to be advanced players, they do need basic skills such as basic beats and fills for drummers, basic chords and the ability to change them for guitar players and producing a tone for horn players, for example. Even professionals are often hired to play 'simple' parts - it's how well the parts are played that makes a good player! More advanced players will be given the opportunity to show their stuff as well.
Q: How do you group the participants?
A: Participants are grouped based on a number of factors such as musical preference, age, skill level, or friends that request to be together.
Q: What do I need to bring?
A: Guitarists - In addition to your guitar, please bring a GUITAR TUNER! If acoustic, that's all you'll need. If electric, bring a guitar cable. If you have a distortion pedal, please bring that with you. Other effects pedals are optional. You can bring your amp, and even leave it here for the duration of the camp if you prefer. Drummers - Just bring your sticks - we'll take care of the rest! Bassists - In addition to your bass, please bring a GUITAR TUNER and a cable. We'll take care of the amp! Keyboardists - If you have a keyboard that you are fond of and would like to bring it, please feel free. If you do, you are welcome to leave it here for the duration of the camp. Otherwise, we have keyboards you can play. Vocalists - Just bring your voice, and any song lyric ideas, if you have any! Horn Players - Just bring your horn, any cover song ideas you may have, and lots of wind!
